Carr was given the chance to take a pop at a series of ads including Go Compare, Guinness, Specsavers, Kerry Low Low cheese and Churchill.
The two-hour comedy gala filmed at The O2 raised funds for The Great Ormond Street Hospital and featured sketches from Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross, Bill Bailey, Catherine Tate, Jack Dee, David Mitchell and many more.
One Tweeter, xSTEx commented on the break, "Same here! RT @Keith1988: C4 the bastards have had me watching the adverts all night just in case Jimmy Carr reappears".
Another, konyskiw, commented "The ads are by far the best bit of channel 4's comedy gala (...and for once saying that isn't actually being mean)".
There have been over 200,000 views of the special break on YouTube.
The deal was organised between the gala production company Open Mike, and Channel 4 Strategic Sales. Deputy Head of Channel 4 SS department Daren commented "This was too good an opportunity to miss," said Daren Benton, deputy head of strategic sales at Channel 4. "Hopefully this will be seen as yet another example of just how creative you can be with the commercial break."
