Our Brands channel4.com New Media manages and maintains www.channel4.com, Channel 4's successful website which averages over 100 million page impressions and over 7 million unique users per month. The website performs a number of functions by supporting programming across all Channel 4's channels, creating great public service content, enhancing Channel 4's brand reputation with bespoke rich and innovative content and generating commercial returns.

Programme support:

The site provides information and support for Channel 4, More 4, E4 and Film4 programming and constantly strives to innovate in this area. Its recent campaign for Lost, the hit US series, was the most advanced online experience ever commissioned by a television broadcaster and created a new level of interactive involvement for a TV series. Based around the stories of the survivors of a plane crash on a desert island, during the first six weeks of the show, users could go to www.channel4.com/lost to view new 'episodes' and exchange emails and phone messages with individual characters. Each online 'episode' used a character's dreams and memories to build on their role in the show. The site also offered users the chance to watch full missed episodes on demand. As well as attracting a high volume of users the site was a critical success and was described in recent press coverage as "innovative" and "tantalising".

In addition to programme support, channel4.com includes a broad range of 'destination' verticals. Its well-respected motoring site, www.channel4.com/4car, regularly attracts over 1 million visitors per month and in 2006 commissioned its first ever programmes solely for online viewing. The site now features hundreds of videos ranging from motor show reports to video test drives of the latest models.

Such was its success that a number of further online commissions have also been commissioned including a weekly film show, Movie Rush and other programmes.

Channel4.com/music was launched last year aiming to become one of the leading destination music website across the UK. Alongside exclusive videos and interviews, charts, celebrities, competitions and gossip the site also supports the 750 hours of music programming broadcast on Channel 4 each year.
