John is a producer, director, writer and presenter.
The radio shows he created in the mid-seventies, Quote... Unquote and The News Quiz (the model for Have I Got News For You) are still running over 30 years later. On television, John created Spitting Image, Not the Nine O'Clock News, Blackadder and QI. He has co-written 12 books, of which his favourite is The Meaning of Liff, which he wrote with Douglas Adams.
He currently presents The Museum of Curiosity on Radio 4.
John started directing ads in 1987. He is best known for Barclaycard with Rowan Atkinson, Red Rock Cider with Leslie Nielsen, Dime Bar and Worthington with Harry Enfield and Abbey National with Alan Davies. In 1992, for one year only, BAFTA held an awards ceremony for TV commercials. John had a good night, as a result of which he has more BAFTAs (10) than anyone else.
In 2006 John formed his own production company - QiCommercials - and is enjoying making ads more than ever.
