Channel 4 today unveils the structure of the fully converged content and commissioning team created by Chief Executive David Abraham and Acting Chief Creative Officer, Julian Bellamy. This combines Channel 4 network's commissioning and creative activities into a single cross platform content division for the first time. The broadcaster also confirms an extra content investment of £50 million across 2010.

David Abraham said: "Channel 4 has always been brilliant at enabling big creative ideas; with the emergence of initiatives such as Canvas we have to ensure these ideas are, from the outset, reaching their fullest expression across all platforms. The structure of the new content and commissioning team, which now includes Richard Davidson-Houston as Head of Online, will empower commissioners at Channel 4 to deliver more content like The Million Pound Drop with multiplatform features at the heart of the offer for our audiences."

The Chief Creative Officer role, which combines the channel's former two most senior creative posts (Head of Channel 4 and Director of Television and Content), will have 11 direct reports.

The Head of Online (Richard Davidson Houston), will have responsibility for all of Channel 4's online propositions and commissioning and will report to the CCO. The Online Products, Cross-Platform Commissioning, 4iP and Education teams will all report to Davidson-Houston under his new role. His first task is to undertake a month-long review of the current range of activities in this area; determining a focus and structure that will enable the teams to achieve maximum impact going forward.

Stuart Cosgrove has been given the new role of Director of Creative Diversity helping to drive the commission of multiplatform content from newer companies throughout the regions. He will continue to have management responsibility for his current department of Nations and Regions, but in a change in reporting structure Channel 4's Cultural Diversity team, Indie Relations, Disability executive and the Paralympics team will now all report into this new position.

The Heads of News and Current Affairs (Dorothy Byrne), Drama (Camilla Campbell), Comedy (Shane Allen), Entertainment (Justin Gorman), Features and Factual Entertainment (Sue Murphy), Documentaries (Hamish Mykura), Specialist Factual (Ralph Lee) and Daytime (Helen Warner) will all report to the CCO, guaranteeing commissioning heads a direct route to the creative leader of the organisation. As part of the new structure, T4 and Music will now report to the Head of Entertainment.

The Head of Channel Management (Rosemary Newell) will also report to the CCO, and in this role Newell will head up a team of Channel Managers; for Channel 4 (Jules Oldroyd), E4 and More4 (Paul Mortimer) and Film4 (Julia Wrigley). The team of Channel 4 managers will have responsibility for coordinating each channel's activities and scheduling the optimal programme mix. The Head of Acquisitions will also work into the Head of Channel Management.
